Water Jet
This cold cutting process, known as abrasive Water jet cutting has been commercially available for over 25 years, however there is still a certain amount of mystique surrounding the process. The basic principle involves a jet of water pressurised to 60,000 psi with a fine abrasive medium added to the jet stream. This creates an extremely powerful cutting tool which offers benefits over other certain profiling methods:
• No heat distortion or edge hardening.
• Tight nesting of parts, minimal material waste.
• Reduces or eliminates secondary cleaning operations.
• No restriction on minimum hole sizesNo tooling requirements or costs.
• Virtually any material processed.
• No restriction on design complexities.
• Can eliminate secondary machining operations.
• Although the Water jet cutting process is capable of cutting virtually any material.
• Up to 150mm thick it is best suited to the following materials:
Aluminium 3mm – 75mm
Stainless 10mm – 75mm
Mild Steel 20mm – 75mm
Rubbers/Plastics – 1mm – 150mm
Brass/Copper/Bronze 1mm – 75mm
Aerospace materials 1mm – 75mm
Titanium materials 1mm – 200mm
